Darrin is a true artist in his craft of designing both interior and exterior elements that created a home that far exceeded our initial vision. When we decided to downsize from a 4800 sq foot high-maintenance home in Redmond, OR we chose Hollyman Design to design our new home. We had a long list of “must haves” for our new home at Brasada Ranch and Darrin Hollyman designed a home for us that fulfilled that list to a tee. Some of the things that we asked for included a split plan home with open concept living, dining, and kitchen with a walk-in pantry and a flip-up window for entertaining access to the back terrace. We also wanted large access doors to the terrace that tuck into the wall for enjoying the indoor/outdoor living that Central Oregon affords. A large craft room/office for me and an office/TV room for my husband were essential, as were a large master suite with an over-sized walk in closet and a zero entrance open shower. One guest bedroom with bath and a bunk room for the grandkids were all we needed to complete our wish list. We got everything and more in a beautifully designed 2700 sq foot low maintenance smart home. I would highly recommend Darrin Hollyman to design your next home.

Picking a new home designer can be a pretty daunting experience especially if you’re building your last home and have a lot with incredible views. I purchased a lot with views of the Three Sisters, Broken Top, Mt Bachelor, Mt Jefferson, and Mt Hood from several different directions. It was imperative to us that our new home design took advantage of these gorgeous Mt views. My wife and I decided on hollyman design (Darrin Hollyman) after attending the COBA show, seeing his homes that were in the show, and reading about his work in several of the Central Oregon trade magazines. After a lengthy interview with Darrin, he asked us to create a “must have” and “wish list” of the features we wanted in our new home. We walked the building site with Darrin and discussed some of the key “must haves” and how they related to a home design that worked for us. The entry into our new home because of the lot configuration, was perfectly set up to construct a bridge with a water feature flowing under under it. We told Darrin as you walked along the bridge approaching the entry, South Sister needed be the first thing you see through a substantial wall of glass. After several iterations of our new home plan, Darrin came up with exactly what we wanted. He tied in everything we wanted into a home design that became one with the building site. A five-car garage, no steps into the house, Mountain and sunset views from almost every room in the house. As we are nearing completion of our new home, I look at how dead-on Darrin placed our new home to get the views, and making sure that South Sister was the focal point of our entry. We got exactly what we asked for in a new home.

My husband and I hired Darrin Hollyman to design our home at Brasada Ranch. Our builder, Conone Davis, immediately recommended him and as we were heading to our hotel that day we got a call from Darrin who said something to the effect, “I’m standing on your lot and I can already picture how I’d lay out your house!” We made a U-turn and the rest is history.

We couldn’t be happier with the end result. Darrin optimized our view and outdoor living space, factoring in the sun, shade and wind so each area offers protection from different elements. He created the guest-wing and master bedroom area of our dreams, and recommended we build out the downstairs for functional as well as architectural benefits. Darrin also demonstrated his acute awareness of the symmetry and balance of his designs, not just from the front of the house but from every angle.

And finally, we appreciate Darrin’s instinct to capture the Central Oregon vibe that attracted us to this part of the country.

From our first introduction to Darrin, we knew he was our guy. He took the time to get to know us and our lifestyle with regard to the design of our home. He collaborated well with our contractor and interior designer which has been a win for us. We own a home in central Oregon which was in need of a remodel. The challenge was to transform it from a vacation home into a permanent residence. After reading about hollyman design in Western Home Journal, reviewing his website, and an interview we knew we had our Building Designer. As a retired interior designer I value a professional who is a great communicator, asks questions to arrive at a design concept which will meet their clients needs and expectations, and recognizes how it should function at its best, with lots of style. We also had a tight deadline where we needed a preliminary plan drawn up to present to an ARC Committee for approval within a month.
